A Woman Under Power?

November is coming very quickly and there is a legitimate chance there will be a woman as the first president of the United States. There have been many women as leaders in other countries, but never in the United States. Why don't you think there has been a president that has been a woman? And also do you think a woman will do a good job as the leader of this country?

The sad part is that there has not been a woman president to this date. Personally I feel like it is because some people still do look at women as being inferior to men. In my mind this is not true, but regardless it is the truth. On the other end of the spectrum, it seems that other countries, such as countries in the middle-east, view women as subjects with no power in their nation. With that said, how will they respect a president if it is a woman? Does anyone think that this will be an issue?

There are many different reasons why there has never been a women president in the U.S. but i believe the biggest issue is trust. Most Americans do not trust a women to handle the responsibilities of being presient. I do not agree and I feel like have a women president might benefit this country.

I agree with Kristina on this. Most Americans still cannot trust a woman running our country. As we all know, women are very emotional. I am not trying to sound sexist, but how would you think Hilary would react to the 9/11 attacks if she was president at the time? How would a woman handle the situation if America was invaded? Personally, I do not think American is ready to have a woman as president yet, at the same time she is a great candidate and she has a big chance of winning.

The biggest reason that the U.S. has never had a woman president is sexism. Until 1920, women weren't allowed to run. Since then, women candidates have never been taken seriously until this year's election. It is only in the past few years that the majority of Americans didn't say they would NEVER vote for a woman.

Also, the stereotype that women are somehow all emotional and can't handle the stress of such a job is a false one that has been proven false by every single one of the 50+ women who have been the leaders of major countries around the world, such as Great Britain.

Women and men are equally emotional.

I think that if the right woman were in office, it would not be a problem because woman have just as much as ability to tun this country as men do.
