Security in America

Do you think security has gotten better since 911? Think about the airports ,train stations etc. Do you think as the years go by security will remain strict or lighten up? Hopefully they'll remain the same or advance a little because we never know when terrororists will strike again. In my opinion i think security should loosen up just a little.

Yes I think security has got a lot tighter. I mean think about it. You can't even pack a bottle of water. It might not be as tight in small airports but in major ones it is definitely tight! I do think in the future it might loosen up a little but I don't think it will ever go back to the way it was years ago.

Security has definately gotten a lot stricter. At the airports they are limiting you to a 4 oz. bottle of shampoo (I think that's right), you cannot bring any liquids past the security check point, even if you just bought it 10 feet away from the check point. And now i heard something about an x-ray machine that cannot see through your clothes so you can't hide any drugs, weapons, etc.

I think security has got alot tighter. They are really serious i guess about arriving early to airports and getting everything checked out before everyone takes off. It's a hastle, but there a sense of comfort knowing nothing is getting past them.

Yes, security have gotten stronger and I do not like that. We barely can bring anything with us on planes now.

There is more security in airports for sure but is it helping us or hurting us. Fewer people fly on planes now causing more airlines to go bankrupt forcing us to drive. With the rise in gas prices this puts more of an economic strain on many families. and I still feel that there are many different ways that terrorists may still be able to attack us even with the heightened security.

In response to "steele810":
To my knowledge x-ray machines have always been able to see through clothes and what not... just like being able to see through a bag in an x-ray machine. In support though, you have a point on the x-ray machines, they have become more advanced. I even went through an x-ray machine on my way to Japan that acted as a vacuum that sniffed for drugs. Honestly I was blown away. This was 3 years ago so I can only imagine what the machines are doing now.

In response to the original post:
Security is tight and is very strict but it is only a matter of safety. In the future we will come up with more and more technological advancements that will take the place of people having to personally search you. I think the frustration comes because of the inconvenience of security rather than the thought of security being tight. In other words, it seems that people are just angry at the fact that they have to take their shoes off and get searched. What if they have a machine that can do every single security action all in one without the pain of taking off half of your clothes? It is my opinion that there will be less complaining about security and more praising about how great it is.

Yes i do believe security has gotten better since 911 but there is only so much security can do to protect the lives of all people. I hope nothing like 911 happens again but there is always a possiblilty and who knows if we will really be able to protect everyone.
