History in the dark?

One of the things that we have discussed in class before is the way that history is taught in schools. I think that many students education is being shown only one angle of history. While the books and teachers leave many important facts and information in the dark. How do you think this could effect college students after they graduate, and how does it effect high school students once they move on to college.

One of the huge issues is time. A teacher only has a certain amount of time to teach a certain criteria. Moreover, most classes in college are based on specific parts of history. Typically high school classes teach general stuff. If a sophomore is taught most of the history that college students are taught, chances are they will fail because of how hard it is.

I understand that there is x amount of time to teach something to a group of students during a single school year but moving quicker could help the history that is being left out. I feel like learning more would have helped many college students as they moved on to higher levels of history.
