People have been losing their jobs for years now. The housing market has been in jeopardy for who knows how long. College students are not even able to get loans to pay for their classes anymore. Retail sales have been dropping all year. Why has it taken so long for economists to declare that we were in a recession?

Now what?
Interracial relationships have always been a controversial issue. There will probably always be people that will speak out against marrying outside on one's race but America is getting more tolerable with the issue as time passes. There were many attempts to pass a amendment banning miscegenation but it was not successful. Only 16 states had a law against it and in 1967 the Supreme Court ruled anti-miscegenation was unconstitutional. When these laws were removed interracial relationships became more common. I wonder if the fact that we have now elected a interracial man into the White House will help more in the acceptance of interracial couples.

Music to my ears...
Music is always changing. I am an old soul and love good classical music but I often wonder what the works of people like Judy Garland, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Louis Prima and Keely Smith would sound like with the synthesizer and a voice box. I also wonder what we would be listening to if those things did not exist today, Would Beyonce even phase us? Just because technology has taken us somewhere does not mean the old ways are bad, people enjoyed the above classical artists back then and still respect them today. But are they respected because of how popular they were then or does the music still really appeal to our generation's ear?

Some many elections later...
I feel like the act of being disenfranchised is an issue that some people feel was left back when African Americans first got the"right" to vote. I myself never really paid a lot of attention to it in the hear and now. This past election CNN constantly brought to light this issue of disenfranchisement and gave warnings of what to look for. Although, most of the tactics that were used seem obviously bogus to anyone who had the slightest common sense it was alarming to think that there are many people that will actually believe things like rain would postpone an election.

Ayo Technology...
It is hard to imagine a time with no television. Technology has made some major advances in the last couple of decades. Nowadays some people cannot even entertain themselves a full 24 hours without using something that needs to be plugged into a wall and transmit sometype of picture or sound. It is easy to forget even something as common as the television was not around when our grand parents and parents were young. The way my Great-Grandmother sits down with her coffee, kicks up her recliner chair and channel surfs, I would not believe that as a child the television in her house was unthought of. I think it would be interesting to experience things the old way, but only temporarily....bring on the technology!

There are 2 types of celebrities
People who become famous and people who become famous for something. One contains actors, tv stars, movie stars, olympians, etc. The other group contains criminals and victims or crime. One contains Brad Pitt and Michael Vic. Another contains people like Lance Armstrong and Michael Vic. Oh wait...neverminind. He's a gray area.
Have you seen this new show, Celebrity Rehab, on VH1? It is the best of both worlds. You get your 80's rockband singers and you get your 80's hate crime victim. I'm refering to Rodney King, who has become an alcoholic since his beating in the late 80's.
Another good example of the other kind of celebrity is...Monica Lewinsky who, after and incident with former President Bill Clinton, became an overnight celebrity. Because of this women, the second catagory is broken into 2 groups. People who become famous for something they do to someone or something they have done to them.

Movies of the 21st century...
8 years. Thats all there has been in this century. 8 years that have turned only a couple of really great movies. The Lord of the Rings...yeah. Harry Potter...before the 5th one came out...sure. But, now, we have newly recaptured idea that is ripping the hearts and draining the blood out of people all across this nation. Literally! What is it? Vampires. Twighlight...True Blood...Underworld...Van Helsing...My Gym Partner is a Vampire. (I sware I saw it on a TV schedule line up). What is this sudden interest in vampires?!
The answer is quite simple. This country's movie industry is running out of ideas. So, they are taking from the old and making them new. The Hulk? It sucked, because they used a pretty-mich no-name like Eric Bana. The Incredible Hulk? Better, because they used Edward Norton and Liv Tyler. The Punisher? Again, a pretty much no name. (Although, Rebecca Romeign was pretty hot at one time). The Punisher, Warzone? A no name, but people like it more because it follows the comic book character more.
Comic Book and Novels have become a forefront for movies in the 21st century. Where have all the good ideas gone?

Is Professional wrestling fake?...The story is finally answered...
It Pro Wrestling fake? You may think its easy to just say 'no', but it's not. As the son of a former professional wrestler, I can tell you, 'fake' is not the word that should be used. "Scripted" is a better word.
The action is real, but the outcome and the order of the moves is planned. The blood that you see come out of their foreheads is real, unless it comes from their mouth, more than likely.
The injuries that occur, in the old days, were more or less real. Now adays, if a wrestler is injured, they just work it into the storyline. Hey! Who knows? Could put some butts in the seats.
It's not a matter of real or fake, its a matter of "scripted" or "unscripted". It is scripted, but it is NOT fake.
My father has torn and broken bones.
Some people are doctors and get paid to mend bones and heal ailments. Wrestlers wrestle and get paid to entertain people.
Why do you think they call it Sports Entertainment instead of Sport? 'Cause its not a toss up to them...

Was NWA right? Is "The Man" Corrupt?
Back in the day the police were fuled by racial tensions so hate towards black people was common. Todays society is a much more tolerant place, and although you have always got bad people in what every field, I believe that the Cops of today are mainly equal when it comes to distributing law. I've got just as much traffic citations as the next guy.

What rock have home-schoolers been living under?
Home-school. Kids sit at home or in a controlled environment with a very, very small number of classmates, and do their assignments in a very timely fashion, away from the evils of the world. Come on, seriously?
A parent refuses to put her child through public schooling, because of the drug use, the lack of safety and the lack of education by sheltering them and teaching them only what THEY think should be taught.
Ladie, take the tit out of their mouth and let them make their own decisions, please! I get it. You want your child to get a good education and to be safe. But what is going to happen when they finally get out in the real world? They are going to get exposed to all that evilness you been trying to keep them from.
You gotta let them breathe that smog and take in that second hand smoke before they use their inhailer. You know why we dont have asthma that bad? Its partly because we've gotten used to it cause, guess what? We've been breathing it all our lives.
As a person who has a couple people he knows who were homeschooled, its kinda hard to ask a homeschooler why his/her parents would do such a thing.
Put 'em in a Private school if you're that scared? Oh, wait, they cost to much!
Someone please shed some light on this.

Bamboozled
One of the first black movies to come out during the motion picture take off era was the movie The Jazz Singer. It portrayed a black Jazz singer, played by a made up white male. In the late '90s, a movie was put out called Bamboozled, a reaction picture to that time. It stared 2 real black males brought in to be a part of show depicted the same kind of image portrayed in the movie from earlier decade. In the course of the movie, the two African Americans take over the show and basically say, "F-U, white man, and your forefathers for creating a mockery out of us."
Do think the message in that movie was supposed to be a concensus of what the African American population thought of The Jazz Singer, or the just the view of the two actors in the movie? Do you think think that the claucasion who, way back when, produced and distributed the TJS thought of what effect it would put on them and the black community, whether positive or negative?

Whats the big deal with Private School?
I went to Public school all my life and enjoyed every mintue of it; so why is it that Private school has become the newest rage for young parents? Within the past 10 years, enrollment levels in private schools have almost doubledcausing a huge decrease in public school levels. Why is this happening? Is it because of the population jump we've had within the past decade? Or is our public school system beginning to crash? Could our economic downfall be a factor in the suffering of public education?

America: For The Government, By The Government
It seems that especially now-a-days (though not exclusively by any stretch of the Imagination) the governments main job is to keep themselves and their constutents well paid. This concept of being a politician as a job is not what the founding fathers intended, in fact George Washington was outspokenly against it. In the earlier years of this country being a politician was a side job. Every one who was a politician in the House or Senate met for a set period of time during the year then returned to their towns and continued their real job. The Politicians have become too familiar with loop holes and easy money that they don't look out for the people they are supposed to be representing. Instead the people of America have become a bank with no limit on with draws, in the eyes of our so called Representatives.

China, Allies or Enemies
The Chinese are a country wich has been subjected to much controversy. It started with there occupation of Tibet, then went on to the lead found in their products. It all led up to the Olympics and their opening ceremony. Some say they were Displaying thier power to the world to cause fear. I don't know about that, but they may be a country to watch in later years. They already have shown their aggressiveness with their tactics in Tibet, and their readiness to take Taiwan in a heartbeat.

Strip Clubs here and there....
While doing some research, I came across a bit of interesting news; strip clubs are only legal in certain counties. For example, why is it illegal in Leon county to own and opperate a strip club when a person can drive 20 mintues away to a different area and get an up-close and person view of an individuals "goods". They sould make it a state law strip clubs are allowed or banned? To many kids make the famous 18th birthday drive to the stripclub even if it takes them several hours. Its dangerous and if they were abolished then maybe young adults wouldn't feel the need to take the risky drive; Or, if they were readily available, it might stop kids from taking long, night time trips.

Should we keep the Electoral College?
For those of you who don't know, the Electoral College is misleading. What we elect are representatives and they elect who is best suited to hold the title of Commander-in-Chief. What I don't understand is why the ballot says the canidates names on it if were technically not voting for them. We vote the for the party and the party votes for the President. Congress needs to drop the act and stop misleading the American population.
Why do we need religion?
Back in the day, when Europe ruled the Earth and the new world hadn't ben discovered, religion played a big role in the establishment of laws; things were extremely inhumane and very underdeveloped. So why id it that the America's(when they established freedom) decided to base their laws on the same beliefs they were trying to escape? Were they better off never having any type of religion? Even though the US government was established on religious beliefs, should they abolish all religion laws to respect the new age of hte 21st century?
