History of Thanksgiving

When I was in elementary I learned that the Indians and Pilgrims shared their ideas and beliefs with one another and that's how Thanksgiving started. Since then things have changed. Most families still come together and shared things with one another, but things are a lot more advanced then it was back then.

Hey, when it comes to my family, believe me, I'd LOVE to have an old fashioned historical Thanksgiving. I'd be happy to share corn with my mother, or learn new things from my wife's grandfather. But what I'd really like to do is share a disease infected blanket with my sister in law. Just kidding of course, but it would be nice to drop her off on an uninhabited island. Seriously, that woman drives me nuts.

I love Thanksgiving the way it is now. My parents and I go camping once a year and thats enough nature for me. As far as historical thanksgiving, if were going to regress all the way back to the times of the pilgrims, then we need to get rid of such invetions as the ipod and TV. We might as well make a law that says no television on Thanksgiving. Except if that happened, I would move to France.

Thanksgiving is just a bunch of work. Clean house, make food, then my relatives trash the house and eat all the food. Thats no fair trade. I would like to experience it the old way first hand, but something tells me the pilgrims version will help me appreciate the 2008 one alot better.
