In class we’ve studied history and how women were viewed. It is hard for me to believe that it was a common practice to treat women so harshly. I have always thought that it was bad for slaves during that period, many men, women and children slaves were thought of as less then cattle. So it is just now that I realize that when we are talking about women not having any rights we are in fact talking about “white women.” I don’t say this lightly as I’m typing this post a light comes on that helped me to think of the many Negro slave women who were rapped, beaten, tortured, force to bare their rapist children, humiliated and just plan old abused. It is hard enough for me to think of what prejudices that my mother had to endure when growing up in Georgia in the early 1940’s. Regrettably I must say that women over all suffered horrendous atrocities at the hand of men; What happened to white women does not even compare to what the white men in history has done to black women! It is an honor to know there are so many black women that are educated, positive and strong. As for the young African American Women they should learn more about the true history of the black women and be proud of them. This will serve them well because it would help them, and all women to respect themselves and not let men use them in this way any more. Men in the past use to be bold about the disdain they had for women. Now we just down play their disrespect for women. Men of old use to brutally forcibly rape women; now many just do it through lies, deceit, and trickery, slander, exploiting them, the internet and many other clever and underhanded ways. So I say to all women wake up and respect you, because men through-out history has not, for I to am man!

Women and the Devastation they faced In History

well I think many black women are strong, and they do need to start standing up for themselves. Women in our history have been treated very bad. And many black women today are still getting disrespected by the songs men rap about.
Dukes, many black women have not had those core values passed down to them. Many mothers are out working long hard hours just to scrap by.
