History Does Not = His, Story
Based off of what I'm getting from class and from the book. A lot of the things that we learned about history was only a man's story and not the history of me and my people. When I was in school we were never thought to think critically about the things we were learning about history. Twenty years ago it was assumed that if it was in the books it had to be accurate, boy were we ever wrong. This generation are thinkers and learners from a powerful information age and with this wealth of great information comes great responsibility to go deeper in their quest for true history for all people.

I agree all I have been learning about are presidents, members of the house of representitives, and the constitution. All of those things are important but it is human nature or at least in my nature to want to know where I come from and what so many people before me went through. The common problem in my early American History studies is that my instructors were extremely biased and since I normally just dont believe what I am told I had to do reseach to find out the things I know today.

Hi: Jasmiine, the younger generation really have a great amount of information but will they use it, is the question.
I think that we need to learn about history from different perspectives. We can't just learn about our past from one point of view; we need to see/hear it from the point of view of others. We can research information from multiple resources, put them together, and then write down our reactions to the different perspectives.
Steele810, I agree we most have a more modern approach to history.
I agree all that ive learned about history is from a man's view. I want to view history from a woman, younger person and a minority's perspective.
I agree, we use a lot more critical thinking in history then we do in our everyday life
Hi: Duke, welcome to the American Histroy Blog. The semester is half way over and we still have very few classmates signed up.
What mostly bothered me is how ignorant I felt during most of the classes. I was very diapointed in what my high school teacher had taught me. I really feel I don't know that much when it comes to history. I think now a days most history teachers are coaches who don't really care about teaching. That was my experience.
